I have an entourage
Did you know that? I’m so cool. Members of my entourage are carefully selected to make me seem clever, tall, fashionable, and cool when they follow me around.

They accompany me on my errands. When I’m driving, they handle my phone calls. When I’m eating dinner, they eat the same foods. They only take pictures of me when I say they can, so I know I’m looking my best.
When I go outside to water the garden, they trail after me, chatting away and reminding me how popular I am. When I go back inside, they come, too. When I’m on the computer, they sit by me and look over my shoulder because they know that whatever I’m doing is the most interesting thing in the world. They watch the same TV shows and listen to the same music as me, because it’s my choice. They even ask to borrow my clothes (so they can make silly videos).
Yep, you guessed it. They’re my kids. And they think I’m cool.

The Honking Goose 
My kids are grown but it wouldn’t make any difference anyway. They are not my fans. I am that one in the background that they know will speak up if they do anything terribly wrong. Don’t get me wrong — they love me — but over there — as opposed to right in their mist.

pets are the only ‘people’ more self centered than children – and yet we adore them all!

my boys each borrowed one of my long skirts and put them on around their shoulders and then twirled around in the driveway and video taped themselves being silly and shrieking with laughter 🙂

I have plenty of friends who follow me wherever I go. Why doesn’t anyone ever see them? Because they’re all in my head… mwahahahahahaha!

My entourage is mostly this enormous man exuding an unfriendly aura to which I’m immune. He meets my every need and hears my every concern.
But I’m building up my entourage. Give me a couple years and I’ll have a tiny, adorable young miss following me around, too. She will not meet any of my needs or heed any of my concerns but she -will- be really, really cute.

Consider yourself honked at! I discovered your blog today when you read ours. Being Canadians who have also lived in N. Cali, we applaud your use of the regal bird…and we promise we won’t mention their poop that drives everyone here mad. Your posts are fun and are, in tone, similar to ours. Kids are crazy, parents are nuts, the world strange indeed…but always good for a laugh. That keeps us going. I can identify with your concept of the ‘entourage’…as can every mother. I don’t think I had the privacy to pee alone until they were in school! Enjoy your writing!

I was told today that I was a little bit cool. But that my five year old was about ten pounds cooler than I. I have an entourage, too. Their little warm bodies take the chill out of the car in the mornings and they fog up the windows with their breath, so that they can draw designs on them. For me.

When I hear entourage I think of an elegant flowing stream of people following your lead. My group is like the cloud around pig pen on Charlie Brown, lots of constant movement and dirt.

I have 4… 3 kids + 1 husband.
Part of me is looking forward when my entourage is 1..
but I assume at that point I’ll miss my sticky hands on my clean dress, cry about throwing away a piece of trash, always willing to hug my neck and say “I love you… you’re way cooler than daddy” group of 3!!
