Sew What 2

cloth napkins two orange with dots and two blue with construction trucks

Here are some sewing projects I’m working on for the holidays. This one above is a set of four cloth napkins. They will be given to my dear mama friend and her family of four. She has a boy and a girl, but she really doesn’t like pink-girly stuff. Her daughter is always dressed in strong, bold colors and rainbows and neutrals. Still feminine, but not pink or frilly stuff. I think they will like this fun napkin set.

holiday potholders green holly leaves on red background

This set of holly leaf pot holders is made from a holiday fabric that my, late, mother had collected and saved. So I may end up hanging on to these myself, I haven’t decided yet.

lotus flower pink blue and taupe pot holder and oven mit set

This pot holder and oven mit set is for my step-mom. When I saw this fabric on red-tag discount back when I was working at Jo-ann Fabric and Craft, I immediately thought of my bonus mom. The colors are perfect for her. Last year, I made her a yoga mat bag from this fabric. I hope she’ll be pleased with this gift this year.

potholders with owl design edged with stars on dark green print fabric

My mom loved owls and so owls always remind me of her. I fell in love with this owl fabric when I saw it and had to have it. I like the geometric, stylized owls, and the fact that the fabric can be viewed right side up from two directions, the way the print alternates. I’m not sure who will receive this set.

Which ones do you like? Would you have any of these in your kitchen?

Sending you holiday cheer!

Yes, thanks. The bonus mom pattern would work in my kitchen, except I’m a klutz with bad hands so I have the silicone grip thingies up to my elbow, cause safety first!
I am a cloth napkin person too 🙂

They are all lovely! Especially the one with owls… so, so cute!

I made a set of cloth napkins once, with the hope of avoiding some of the paper waste at home. Unfortunately I severely misjudged what size would be appropriate, and they are just too small to really be useful. 😦 Perhaps time to make new ones?

Thank you. Cloth napkins require a surprising amount of fabric, I’ve found! I start with a piece 18″ square and then hem.

I love ALL of them! What counts is that you made them from the bottom of your heart. It’s the thought that counts. They will all appreciate your gifts since they know that you gave all your time and effort in making them.
