Everybody wants to be right. Everybody thinks they are right. (Almost everybody) Very few people will ever say “I don’t know” or “I need more information”. We usually go full forward on the assumption we are Right.
But there is no such thing. There is no unequivocal Right and Wrong. Christianity and similar religions are built on the foundation of Right and Wrong. Religions like that provide an answer to their followers. Religion gives them a clear Right and Wrong so they always know where they stand. They don’t have to waste time (energy) questioning or thinking it over. They can skip that part and simply act.
That makes religion (or any belief system which governs Right and Wrong) the most effective way of controlling people.
When people have an awakening and they realize that there is no such thing as absolute Right and Wrong, that is when they will lose their religion. At that point, there is nothing left to believe it. It all hinges on this one idea.
I can give you plenty of examples of actions which are not Right or Wrong. For instance, when a lion eats a gazelle. That is right for the lion and wrong for the gazelle. It is right and wrong, at the same time.
If you believe in the mental construct of absolute Right and Wrong, you will simply dismiss my example as insignificant. You will offer up horrifying examples of cruelty and tragedy in an attempt to prove there is a line, at least an absolute Wrong. What situation are you thinking of now? Killing? Rape?
Beyond horrible, indeed. I agree. But I don’t think it proves the existence of absolute Right and Wrong. Life is complex and full of grey areas. Too complicated to conclude there is a clear, definitive Right and Wrong.
Right and wrong is always just a matter of perspective. From the gazelles perspective, being eaten is going to feel very wrong. But without food, the lion would starve, that would feel wrong. It is neither wrong or right. It is the balance and cycle of life.
We, as a society, need to be extremely cautious of any ideology which claims absolute right and wrong. From either side, conservative or liberal, that belief is extremely dangerous. Because what it does, is allow a person to act without thinking, considering, and reasoning. And that is Wrong. (Haha, JK!)
One Love to you all,
the Honking Goose
There is truth in what you say but unfortunately too many people use the argument to validate there own selfishness.

I think there’s right and wrong and everything in between. It’s a spectrum.

I agree. And what’s right and wrong is often only important to those they affect.
